“Dear Steve,
I am currently an independent contractor with 3 dyas of work in the last 4months, I lost my mother who was the care giver for my stepfather, all the insurance and financials are in his name. he is currently in a rehab facility and has been there for 3wks and he can not be left alone when he is home so I have no access to anything. His kids promised to help but they have all left me here to take care of him with no support. I have 5 kids and soon to get married and my bank accounts are currently empty. I owe child support, the IRS and a slew of others. Things were looking decent until about 6months ago when I needed minor back surgery.
How do I get out of debt if I have no work and I am unable to get a job because of my credit & situation?

Dear C,
There are very, very few jobs where people are actually unable to be employed due to credit history. So that’s not a concern.
If you are faced with an impossible situation with no expectation of repayment then you need to seriously consider bankruptcy to get a fresh start. Bankruptcy will help with your other debts, but the IRS debt will remain. Still, that might be a significant relief for you.
